Google has announced a new update that makes it easier for users to find what they need without leaving the main view in the Google Chat app, by adding *Gemini* summaries to the home page.
Now, Google is introducing a new split panel in the main view of Google Chat, allowing users to respond directly to spaces, groups, or individual messages without having to navigate away from the main view.
To take advantage of this feature, users can simply tap on a message to instantly open the split panel with the conversation. If they want to view the entire conversation, they can tap on the expand icon in the conversation header.
**When will the new updates be released to Google Chat?**
For its part, Google confirmed that the split panel mode can be switched through the home page header, giving users the option to enable or disable opening conversations within the split panel.
The split panel will be available to Google Chat users registered in Express Release domains starting today, with the rollout expected to be complete by November 29. Other users will be able to access the updated app starting December 4 at the earliest, with everyone expected to benefit from the new feature by December 19.
Google also announced that this feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers and *Workspace Individual* subscribers.
