Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth will no longer offer playable characters Vincent and Cid during battles

In the continuation of the famous game series, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth allows you to choose your team from different characters that accompany you on your adventures and confrontations, but unfortunately, not all characters are available to fight, especially Vincent and Cid.

It was previously known that Vincent Valentine and Cid would appear in the game, but they would not join your team as fully playable characters, which led players to think that they would be like Red XIII in the 2020 version and follow you as AI allies. But in an interview with IGN, director Naoki Hamaguchi said that Vincent and Cid will be with you on your journey after you meet them on the road, but they will not participate in any battle.

He added:

They will have different roles and assistance in the story and scenes, but will not be part of your team in combat.

We will learn more about their personalities, not through the battle system, but through side missions that will focus on them and teach you a lot about them.

If we used all the playable characters in the second game, we would lose a lot of surprises and new experiences for the player in the third game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on February 29 exclusively on PS5, and you can download the trial version now from the PlayStation Store.
