Although Famitsu’s weekly Japanese sales reports indicated that the Nintendo Switch needed to sell an additional 900,000 units to become the best-selling gaming device in Japanese history, the official numbers from Nintendo are different.
As of last December 31, Nintendo had sold 33.34 million units of the Nintendo Switch device, thus surpassing the total sales of the Nintendo DS device, whose sales stopped at 32.99 million units. The Switch is still able to expand the difference in the coming months until the release of its successor, and we do not know whether we will see it.
