SteamDB shows that Starfield players are down 97% on Steam. Today the game had 12,000 concurrent players, but these numbers are higher than the rest of the week due to the weekend.
The game usually has between 7,000 and 8,000 players on weekdays. Needless to say, this represents a significant decline from the all-time concurrent peak of 330,000 players on PC alone.
This is not the outcome the studio was hoping for as the developers promised that the RPG will be supported for many years, making it another long-lasting Bethesda release.
Comparing the game to Skyrim shows how poorly it performs. At the time of writing, Skyrim has nearly three times as many players on Steam.
Even a game like Fallout 4 has more active players on Steam. Fallout 76 is also close to the number of Starfield players on the platform.
