Griffin Gaming Partners published a new report, confirming that 95% of current game developers are working on new service games under development, or are continuing to pump content into a service game.
The 2023 Game Development Report was prepared in partnership with Rendered VC, and surveyed 537 studios from around the world.
66% of respondents agreed that live services (ongoing support of the game with content) are essential to a title’s long-term success.
The report defines live services as any regular, planned update to a game. The report indicates that traditional game development takes two to three years, while live production lasts more than five years.
