The Visual Capitalist Network, based on information from the British research agency Pelham Smithers, presented a graph that shows us how revenues from video games have grown from the beginning of the industry in 1970 until 2022, when the industry broke the $180 billion barrier.
Below you see the graph that shows how the share of arcade machines in revenues represented the majority until the nineties of the last century, which witnessed a radical increase in revenues achieved by home appliances and personal computers with the emergence of the smartphone market and its tremendous growth starting in the year 2010.
