Jason Citron, CEO of Discord, announced through an internal memo that the company will lay off about 170 employees, or 17% of its employees, stressing that the decision was not easy, but it is part of the company’s desire to continue serving players in the long term, indicating the need to reduce costs.
Citron indicated that the size of the company has doubled 5 times since 2020, which made the company take on more projects, which made it less efficient at work, and the company now wants to focus its resources and efforts and reduce the number of employees as part of this plan.
