Audacity is an easy to use audio file editor. The program is used to record and process digital files, as well as digitize and then use outdated sound media: records and cassettes. In addition to its own AUP format, it supports a number of popular extensions.
SOUND RECORDING
Audacity features include:
• playback of previously recorded audio data;
• fixing streaming broadcasting.
The program works with a mixer, a built-in personal computer system, as well as external sound media:
• microphone;
• A tape recorder, mini-disc or record player connected via the line input.
The program features allow:

EXPORT-IMPORT OPERATIONS IN AUDACITY Files

• Embed in a previously created Audacity project;
• import or export to formats: WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, AU;
• extensions: Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, AU, MP3;
• work with 18 types of files from the libsndfile library;
• open data without headers (raw files);
• create information in the form of AIFF and WAV for audio CDs.
Using encoders, they import data to MPEG and export audio to MP3.
EDITING AUDIFILES
The features of the program include:
• changing the content and size of the file by cutting, embedding, deleting;
• editing the originally recorded audio track or subsequently made changes;
• fast work with large files;
• mixing and changing the characteristics of audio tracks;
• regulation of sound (samples);
• volume smoothing.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND EFFECTS IN AUDACITY
In the editor, you can remove defects from the audio track: hiss, static noise, hum. The program allows you to correct:
• pitch and tempo;
• frequency settings set by FFT-filter and equalizer;
• compressor volume.
The developers have provided for the embedding of effects: reversal, echo, phase vibrato (phaser), dynamic change in timbre (wahwah).
The characteristics that determine the richness of the sound of the file include:
• the ability to select the bit depth of data: 16, 24, 32 bit, used to record and edit the audio signal;
• sampling rate – up to 96 kHz;
• application of dithering and resampling algorithms;
• autotuning characteristics of different tracks in real time.
